The Australian Literature Review is setting up an 8 member writing team in each of four locations; Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast, and the Central Coast (just north of Sydney).
The writing team members in Sydney, Melbourne and the Central Coast will each write two 5,000-10,000 word stories as part of an integrated collection of stories between May and September (5 months) per team for commercial publication.
The writing team members on the Gold Coast will each write two children’s books as part of an integrated series for commercial publication.
All books will be published as print books and ebooks (Kindle and ePub). Each team’s authors will receive royalties for their book or series.
Each writing team will meet once per fortnight and be able to stay in touch with their team online between meetings. Each team will develop their premise, setting, characters, writing style and story directions in May then write and workshop their stories during June-September (4 months).
To express your interest in being on one of the writing teams, email (to auslit@hotmail.com) two or more writing samples of at least a few hundred words each (feel free to email full short stories or chapters), tell a little about your main fiction writing interests, and indicate which location you are applying for. A link to your webiste/blog or anything you think might help in the selection process is also welcome, but the best thing you can provide is good writing samples – no fancy extras required. (Any writing samples sent will just be used for the purpose of helping to select writing team members and will not be displayed on the site.)
The writing team members will be selected this month, ready to start meeting in May, so express your interest now.
I (Steve Rossiter, Editor of The Australian Literature Review) will be one of the members on each writing team and ensure that each team’s collection of stories is integrated in content and style, while helping each member of the teams further develop their fiction writing skills.
