Rural/Small Town Story Short-List

The winner for the September short story comp (for stories with a rural or small town setting) will be announced on September 30th – and, yes, entries have closed for the September comp.

The winner will receive personal feedback on their story from Fleur McDonald (Red Dust, Blue Skies and soon Purple Skies then Silver Gums) and a $250 Angus & Robertson voucher.

The short-listed stories for the September comp are:

To Hell ‘n Back, by Pam Hardgrave

Leaving, by Trevor Solomon

Pine Coffin, Folded Flag, by Gary Kemble

Bad Grownups, by Sam Stephens

Actions Speak, by Colleen Bashford

How Would They Get Rid of Him? by Adam Tucker

The Last Goodbye, by Sarah Neilson

(Also, congratulations to Gary Kemble for his recent acceptance for an Australia Council grant to do his new fiction project.)

Entries for the October comp (for best realistic horror story – that is, non-supernatural horror) are being accepted until October 20th. The winner will receive personal feedback on their story from JJ Cooper (The Interrogator, Deadly Trust) and a $250 Angus & Robertson voucher.

For further details on competitions, see the Competitions page.
